Week 4: Story Lab
I decided to watch the Crash Course Mythology video.
Many myths come in many different versions. You may come across the same story but may be a little different due to interpretation. Some problems with myths are there are not any real authors. Though the eyes of a folkloreist proper myths only deal with the creation of the world, and many myths are religious. There are some myths that don't have any supernatural story lines.
It is mentioned that myths always include some sort of God. I was not aware of that. I feel like it would only be appropriate to have some sort of superior being in my storytelling. I have noticed that the mythical stories that I have came across and the different cultures that I have studied, all have their own version of how the world was created.
Before watching this three part series I did not know what Euhemerism meant. It is interpreted today as myths being primitive explanations of the natural world or as time-distorted accounts of long-past historical events. I think that is interesting because this explains the origin of mythological stories. We often wonder how everything is started, and we have an answer!
