Reading Notes A: Jesus the Healer

I chose to pick a reading from the  Gospel of Mark Unit from the King James Bible (1611). I enjoyed a few readings in Unit A like, The Miracles of Jesus and Jesus the Healer. The Gospel of Mark is familiar to me because I was raised in a christian home. 


 

The setting of t his story is in the Gadarenes. It is explained to be a sea close. A man with a unclean spirit and couldn't be tame him. He would cut himself with stones. I think I want to give the man a name, maybe angel. I know that may seem weird to name a disturbed man angel. However, I think in my story I can maybe change his outcome to something as great as an angel. 

Angel asked God what must he do not to be tormented and God demanded the unclean spirit must come out of the man . God possessed the pigs with the demon spirits and the pigs ran down the hill and drowned in the lake. People could not believe the demoted possessed man was pure. What is weird is the people of the town pleaded that God leave the town. I understand being in fear but he did a good thing. God left on his boat and told the, now pure man to tell the town ho good God has been to you. 

I think I can make the story more relatable by changing the setting to a college campus and talk about a student named angel that is doing everything wrong and had a come to God moment and turns their life around.

Demon or My Child : Week 3 Story

I can remember like yesterday, it was the happiest day of my husband and I lives. We had our first child March 13th, 2002. Her name is Mahleeyha Calvert. As a baby she was the sweetest. I can remember every morning I would walk into her room and she would have the biggest smile on her face holding onto the side of her crib waiting for me. I swear he smile was brighter than the sun shinning on California. I treasure those days because recently she's been acting like a completely different child. It scares me. It is almost like something has possessed her. I came home after work as usual and I could hear a weird tapping noise and a random scream.
