Reading Notes: Nigeria Myths EXTRA CREDIT

Of the Pretty stranger who Killed the King notes:

The main character is MBOTU a famous king of Old Town, Calabar. He had many enemies and they wanted to kill him but they couldn't. The people of the town was not strong enough. Therefore they found a witch that could turn herself into anything she wanted. This reminds me of situations we have today within out presidential and governmental system. There are always a group of people who are not pleased with decisions made during elections or even after elections. They may not be satisfied with the decisions the president makes. I am thinking I may choose a past President of the United States and have one of the citizens that want to kill the President to turn into the Vice-President or someone who does not pose a threat to the President. It would be a cool idea to maybe have multiple people running for Vice-President and have the one he likes the most, turn on him.

The king became aware of the witch because of how beautiful she was after she converted herself. The witched treated the king kindly and got close to him and gave him medicine that made him fall in a deep sleep and she stabbed him. I think I might change the way the king/president is killed.

STAY TUNED FOLK-MATES !

  1. Hi Taylor! I'm glad I noticed this post; the reading units for Africa are coming up later in the semester; the idea this week is that there is an Anthology of stories that everybody in the class reads for Week 2; if you follow this link for the Reading B you will find it ... so you can declare this as extra credit reading for Week 2 (yay for extra credit!) -- but for the actual Reading B, the Anthology and instructions are here, and you'll be writing your story on something from the Anthology this week (that way everybody has read the starting stories): Week 2: Reading B - Anthology.
